ABOUT HIS WORK
Michael works with Indigenous communities to build culturally relevant inclusive AI and XR technology. Specifically he is researching automatic speech recognition for minority languages in North America in collaboration with tribes in the Northwest. Using AI based AR/VR experiences his goal is to enable communities to reclaim their languages with advanced technology. This means in addition to conducting research with Indigenous communities also training them to own this technological infrastructure. Michale’s dream is that all Indigenous communities can build their own technological narrative enabling true sovereignty.
